This post was last edited by 328104062 on 2010-11-7 17:21. As the title suggests: for catalytic distillation column trays, there are floating valves and solid baffles – what other types exist? Between which tray levels are they located respectively? Is it dual overflow or single overflow?
Let me answer. Our company’s catalytic cracking unit’s fractionation tower has a total of 32 trays: the lower 5 are of the tongue type, while the upper 27 are floating valve type, with dual overflow systems.

Our catalytic distillation column has a total of 34 trays: trays 1 to 7 are solid-tray trays (excluding tray 3, which is the oil collection tank and re-refining oil outlet); trays 8 to 30 (excluding tray 17, which is the oil collection tank and intermediate outlet) are single-overflow rectangular high-efficiency floating valve trays; trays 31 to 34 are double-overflow ADV rectangular high-efficiency floating valve trays. The top circulation is drawn from the oil collection tank on tray 30.
Five layers below the 32nd floor of our plant are of the tongue-shaped type; above that, there are rectangular floating valve trays with single overflow. On the top six layers, the floating valves were severely corroded and have been replaced
How many layers does everyone’s tongue have? Are there any with fewer than 5 floors? ? ? ? ?
There are those with full packing on the bottom tray, as well as those with floating valves.
