The forced circulation electrochemical cell used in Beihua Machinery & Electronics has a service life of around 10 years; during normal operation, the voltage of the cell suddenly rises by 2–3V, and the cell temperature also increases accordingly. After about 2–3 minutes, the voltage drops suddenly again. There are no abnormalities in terms of flow rate, cell pressure, electrolyte concentration, saltwater quality, etc. Dear colleagues, what is the reason for this? What factors cause the voltage to rise suddenly and then drop suddenly? -
As long as there is no tripping due to external voltage fluctuations or internal rectification fluctuations, that’s fine.
Is there a problem with the rectifier? Did the increase in tank temperature cause the voltage to rise? Has there been any change in the vapor pressure?

Are there any issues with the electrolytic cells? Is the liquid output from the anode and cathode outlets even, and is there any discoloration? Are there any fluctuations in the EDI system? 4. Are the data readings normal?

The pressure difference suddenly increased; could it be fluctuations in this pressure difference that caused the membrane to stick to the cathode? We have encountered this situation before, and it returned to normal after adjusting the circulation rate. The pressure difference was controlled at a level higher than usual, but it reverted to normal after some time.
