Is it worth being separated from each other for the sake of a job?

I currently work for a Sinopec petroleum branch in Guangdong, where we manage gas stations. Since the company holds a dominant position in the market and has strict management practices, I am responsible for technical tasks related to safety, as well as quality control. I have been working there for 5 years, with a stable job situation, but without any promotions. Recently, there were recruitment opportunities within the Sinopec network; a new petroleum branch was established in Sichuan, and there was a need for many professionals. I applied, and the company in Sichuan responded by asking me to go there to serve as the head of safety, quality control, and related matters at their local branch. I’m now faced with a dilemma, as my wife doesn’t want to move there – we’ve already bought a house here and our household registration is registered here, and her career is just starting to take off. But I really want to go, because there aren’t many opportunities for promotion if I stay here (we’re a sales-oriented company; those in management positions can only see an increase in salary through promotions, unlike those in design roles, whose value increases over time. In our company, if you haven’t received a promotion by the age of 40, things get tough – the company will send you to work at a gas station). If I go to Sichuan, it will mean being separated from my family, as it’s a new company that is expanding rapidly, offering more opportunities. I hope to do well in Sichuan first and then bring my wife and children over there.
It really depends on the individual, but let me tell you that living apart in two different places is truly very painful……
Try to persuade my wife again; we can’t just think about the present. Maybe in the future, we can find her a job that she’ll be satisfied with there as well.
It’s too far apart; it doesn’t matter if it’s a bit closer. There’s plenty of personal space
If you can earn the salary of two people by working alone, you can go; otherwise, stay. This is my standard.
I do not recommend living apart in two places. Remember, you have to take it yourself; only you know whether you are happy or not.
Actually, for those in your line of work, the wife can go with you. I have a classmate who works in your field; his wife doesn’t have a job, so she goes with him. There’s nothing wrong with that
It’s easier for you since you’re already married; I think you should take this opportunity. Two-thirds of the people in our company have spouses living in different places – it’s all to earn more money. Start working first, and if things go well, then consider moving. If your performance is average, work for a few years to gain some experience and qualifications before coming back; at that point, finding a job shouldn’t be a problem. If you miss this opportunity, you’ll never have the chance to improve your qualifications, and that would be a waste
If it was very promising in the past, I think your wife should support you. You need to take care of all the household chores now, cook a meal for your wife, and buy her some small gifts; she will support you. Which woman wouldn’t want what’s best for her husband, right?
The reality is that distance brings nothing but indifference! I know that all too well!
