When installing air conditioning ducts, can a tee (or cross) be connected directly to a reducer? Should it be a tee (or cross) followed by a straight pipe section before connecting to the reducer? What are the benefits of each? Thank you

It should be a tee (or cross) followed by a straight pipe section before connecting to the reducer; this helps reduce resistance and prevents sudden changes in diameter from causing increased noise, unstable airflow, and issues with air volume distribution.
What was said upstairs makes sense; it’s the same as with water pipes – the diameter doesn’t change at the places where there are bends.
