I showed them some muscle magazines I got from the store so they could see how ripped I was going to be. Please help me understand what \"ripped\" means in this context
Being \"ripped\" in this context refers to how muscular you can get. In other words, if you’re ripped, you look like Arnold from 20 years ago
Ripped means ‘with prominent muscles’, ‘muscular’, and a word with the same meaning is Cut; both are used to describe muscular ‘strongmen’. To describe a girl with curvaceous figures, the term Curvy is used.
The translation in the book is as follows: I showed them some bodybuilding magazines I got from the store so they could see how shredded I was going to get. I showed them some fitness magazines I bought at the store, so that they could understand just how enthusiastic I was. By comparing the Chinese and English versions, it seems that “ripped” here means “fanatical”. Why?
