Hello everyone, I have a layman’s question: is the power used for instrument control in process plants DC or AC? If it’s pneumatic, then there’s no need to consider it, right? How can we estimate the power consumption of an electric version?
Most instruments use direct current. It’s mainly the transmitter! Of course, the regulator valve also sends a DC signal! There are also elements for communication, such as electric control valves and PLCs. solenoids, relays, etc

As for the second pneumatic component, it refers to the control valve; the power needed for the positioner is 24V DC. Can an electric drive be understood as an electric actuator? If it is an electric actuator, there are also those powered by AC or DC depending on the model.
