A happy life in a small town

Seven years have passed since I graduated; I moved from the Northeast to Sichuan in the West, which I considered backward at that time, and then to a small city in the South that was also relatively underdeveloped. During those years of economic prosperity, I used my brain, hands, and eyes to earn some money through drawing plans, and in 2005, when housing prices were just starting to rise, I took out a loan to buy an apartment of over 80 square meters. After that, things progressed as usual: I got married and had a daughter. Everyone says that I live in rhythm with the economy, and I think that’s true. With subsidies available for small-displacement cars, my husband and I didn’t hesitate to buy a minicar; we told our parents that we bought it to take the children to school (although it was actually very convenient for us to go to work without a car). Life went by slowly and peacefully. Although it wasn’t as comfortable as life in big cities, I still found it pleasant. On weekends, our family would drive to rural areas to fish or pick pomelos – that too was a form of happiness, I guess!
