Hello everyone, twisted pairs in cables refer to the wires being twisted together, while shielding means that each pair of cables is insulated; is that correct? Also, what are the respective functions of twisting and splitting? It should be pretty different, right?
It is generally divided into split screen, full screen, split screen with full screen, etc. Split shielding means providing a shield around each pair of conductors in the cable, while overall shielding involves providing a shield around all the conductors. Split shielding combined with overall shielding utilizes both types of shielding mentioned above. In DCS, cables for analog signals require a split-screen and summary-screen configuration, with the shielding layer typically being copper in a mesh structure. Digital signals can use the cables for the split-screen or main screen. An armored cable is not necessarily a shielded cable; its armored covering primarily serves to protect the wires inside the cable, and it also provides some degree of shielding.
The function of twisting and splitting is to prevent interference between wires. Generally, in the same rack, when there are many cables, the signal types are complex, and signal cables and power cables share the same pathways, it is necessary to implement twisting and shielding.
May I ask, do I also need to choose a shielded cable for the switches? I use KVV cables for all my engineering projects.
