I need to measure the liquid level in a large storage tank; the height is around 10 meters or so. I want to install both a remote-mounted level gauge and a local level gauge. The viscosity of the medium is quite high, so magnetic flap gauges are not suitable for this application. Do you have any good recommendations for local display devices?

With radar, the dielectric constant also needs to be considered. Ultrasound can be used too! Is it at atmospheric pressure? It’s easy at normal pressure. Throw a float on top, tie a rope to it, and drop a stone outside. The simplest and most basic on-site level gauge has been created!

Either radar or ultrasound can be used; radar offers higher precision than ultrasound. If on-site display is required, simply add a display gauge.

Yes, I’m thinking of two systems: one for remote transmission and one for local use
For remote monitoring of tanks like this, radar is generally chosen; for local indication, a differential pressure level transmitter can be used, and it’s not expensive either. It seems rather difficult to find level gauges that only provide local indications and are suitable for this situation.
The poster should consider using a steel strip level gauge; it’s quite good for measuring the level in storage tanks on-site.
