Well, regarding the design, the client required that valves that are not water or gas pipelines should have static discharge connections. Since it was required of us to do this, we just did it. But really, there’s no point in overthinking whether such connections are necessary or not. All of our pipeline valves use metal wound gaskets, and the connection wires specified in the design drawings are fitted over the bolts on the valve flanges. The client also required that we apply anti-corrosion coating to those valve bolts. So, I think this bypass isn’t very useful? What do you think?
Loading, unloading, transportation, blending, sampling, measuring volume, temperature measurement, and equipment cleaning of flammable and combustible liquids; Flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks, railway tank cars, road tank cars, dip pipes, as well as various equipment and pipelines, generally require static electricity bonding. The flanges and fixing bolts of metal pipelines are made of metal, so bypass wiring is not necessary. When maintenance is required, to prevent stray currents, a bridging strip should be used to avoid the occurrence of sparks. So I think the property owner might be doing it for insurance, to be safer – after all, safety comes first!
It is recommended to measure the resistance value at the point where a bypass connection is needed to determine whether it is greater than 0.03Ω; if it is, a bypass connection is necessary, while if it is not, no such connection is required. This is for reference only!
