The pump operates normally with boiler water at 100 degrees; it is connected to two circuits of circulating water, as well as a cooler. What is each of these components used for cooling?
Is the pump referred to by the original poster the boiler feed pump? It depends on how the circulating water system is arranged on site; coolers are generally used to cool the lubricating oil in seals or bearing housings.
Without lubrication for the pump bearings in the fuel station, there is only an oil reservoir – can the oil serve as a lubricant? How is the oil pressure generated?
Reply to 3# xb123: Yours is oil-based lubrication, which does not require pressure; only forced lubrication needs an oil pump to supply pressurized oil
One is for the pump casing jacket, and the other is for seal cooling.
It would be best if the poster posted a picture, as that would help solve the problem. It’s likely that one of them is related to the mechanical seal; the cooler is also designed for use with the mechanical seal, and another component is probably related to the bearing box.
Two circulating water lines, presumably for cooling the bearing housings, going back and forth. The cooler should be a mechanically sealed self-flushing cooler.
I can’t see the picture, so it’s just an estimate: if it’s a boiler feed pump, there is a cooling water pipe on the pump body used for the packing seal, another pipe that leads from behind the balance disk to the water inlet section, and there might also be a cooling water pipe for the bearings. The concept of supply and return water in this context should be clear; cooling is used to cool those parts that are sensitive to heat, such as bearings and seals. Sometimes, the impeller cover is also cooled. Bearing cooling achieves its effect by lowering the temperature of the cooling lubricant, which in turn cools the bearings. It is generally cooling water for sealing water; in our facility, the two streams of cooling water are used respectively for cooling the sealing water at the drive end and the non-drive end.
