May I ask, are the cycle hydrogen compressors used in hydrocracking and diesel hydrogenation driven by steam? Are there any that are driven directly by electricity, or are there other ways to drive them?
My workshop has two sets of equipment: one for hydroprocessing and one for hydrorefining, each equipped with a cycle hydrogen compressor. Both compressors are driven by 3.5 MPa steam. Given the large volume and high pressure of the cycle hydrogen, as well as the need for continuous operation to prevent the reactor bed from overheating, if electric drive were to be used, compressors or reciprocating pumps would have to be employed. However, this would result in a pulsed flow of cycle hydrogen at the outlet, which is discontinuous and can easily lead to overheating of the reactor bed. Overall, steam drive is more stable!
