There has always been a question bothering me~~~~ What harm can short-circuiting of the two wires cause when the field instruments are removed? Please, experts~! ! !
The power supply for on-site instruments is generally 24VDC, so it poses no harm to humans. A short circuit caused by unplugging wires on site can burn out the components inside the control cabinet. But these days, a safety barrier or fuse is usually installed before connecting to the site. The appropriate current rating for the fuse is generally between 0.5A and 2A, which is sufficient to ensure the safety of the components inside the cabinet. So under normal circumstances, only the fuse gets burned out, with no direct impact on other devices.
There isn’t much harm in it; a two-wire system is supposed to be a current circuit anyway. However, this approach isn’t very standard, and repairs should still be carried out in accordance with the specifications.
At most, it will burn out the fuse or safety barrier of a single circuit; this will not affect the I/O card channels.
