Its main function is to connect smaller branch pipes to larger main pipes, serving to reinforce them. For common branch pipes smaller than DN50, half-elbow joints are used, while for those larger than DN50, reducer tees are required.

Their function is to serve as connections for branch pipes, but the diameter of the branch pipe fittings is larger than that of half-pipe joints. Some of them use socket welding, while others employ butt welding; the maximum diameter that can be achieved depends on factors such as pressure and the type of medium involved !
Half-pipe fittings and branch bases are completely different things! Half couplings are generally of the socket-type, in accordance with standards such as SH3410 or ASME B16.11; they resemble small short tubes, with diameters typically equal to or less than DN40 (although standards allow up to DN80). There are various types of pipe ends: socket-type, threaded, and welded types, in compliance with standard MSS SP-97; these pipe ends resemble saddle-shaped fittings, and the diameter of the branches connected to them can reach DN600!
Agree with the view from floor 9. Semi-elbow joints connect the main pipe and the branch pipe; the branch pipe is generally used to drain the condensate from the main pipe. Is that correct?
