Those who have experience with turbines: please discuss whether the struts at the last stage of the low-pressure section of the turbine impeller need to be fully welded, or whether they should be disconnected at a certain point along the impeller to facilitate thermal expansion.
Judging from the manufacturer’s design intent, the units I’ve seen in Wuhan and Qingdao are all fully welded (although there might be others I haven’t seen); the turbines equipped with Siemens technology in Hangzhou have welded joints that are separated.
