Sulfur dioxide is produced from citric acid; sulfur dioxide gas with a concentration of around 9.5% is first absorbed by acid 93, to remove water and sulfur trioxide. First, sulfur dioxide is absorbed in the first absorption stage, and then again in the second absorption stage, where it is absorbed by citric acid. The citric acid that has absorbed sulfur dioxide is then subjected to a separation process, after which acid 98 is used to remove water. The mixture is cooled, compressed by a compressor, and the resulting liquid sulfur dioxide is sent to a metering tank, from where it moves on to the final product tank. Previously, the daily production could reach 28 or even 30 tons per day. Some time ago, the exhaust gas absorption system was modified, and as a result the compressor could only operate at one-third or two-thirds of its capacity; thus the production volume decreased compared to before. The process parameters as well as temperature and pressure remained unchanged. The concentration of the rich liquid was 117, while that of the lean liquid was 69. The steam pressure during separation was 3 kilograms, and the temperature after separation was 104 degrees. Why did the production volume drop? What’s going on? ?
