I work on pilot-scale process testing. I currently have distillation equipment and need a steam flow meter with a low flow rate. My steam supply comes from a steam generator with a capacity of 7 KG/H. Could anyone recommend a small steam flow meter for me? Thank you! An affordable option is the metal rotor flow meter, but it is necessary to choose one with a thermal insulation jacket attachment. Options available in terms of price: specially designed integrated orifice plates, namely those equipped with isolation pressure guiding tubes and a three-valve assembly, which are capable of withstanding higher temperatures ; High-priced option: straight-tube mass flow meter with insulated jacket.
Personally, I think that if the pipeline vibration is not severe, a dedicated low-flow vortex flow meter should be used; the accuracy of rotameters is questionable. Additionally, when the flow rate is low, it’s not easy to measure it using orifice plates, as the Reynolds number is relatively low. Using a mass flow meter would be such a waste, haha :)

Personally, I think a orifice plate throttling device is a good choice, as it is not very expensive and easy to maintain.
