Selection of steam pipeline materials

Hello everyone, why is carbon steel chosen for low-pressure steam pipelines instead of stainless steel? Do pipe fittings have to be the same material as the pipes? What will happen if carbon steel pipes are chosen while stainless steel valves are used? Thank you for the advice
This post was last edited by yandeya on 2010-11-24 at 10:15. Regardless of the equipment or materials used, the selection should be based on making the best use of what is available. For low-pressure steam pipelines, seamless carbon steel pipes are sufficient to solve the problem; why waste money on stainless steel? For valves, carbon steel of the appropriate pressure rating will suffice; if money is not a concern, stainless steel can also be used. The pressure rating of the valve’s flange should match that of the flange on the pipeline (with the same material as the pipeline)
How much is stainless steel per meter? How much is carbon steel per meter? If carbon steel can be used, then why use stainless steel? The same goes for pipe fittings; as long as they are suitable, the one with a lower cost will definitely be chosen. Stainless steel fittings and carbon steel can be used together without any conflict.
