As is well known, the semi-coke and coke produced through coking process have a much higher calorific value than raw coal. Nevertheless, a considerable amount of their calorific value is lost during the coking process; around one-tenth of the raw coal is also lost during its screening. Additionally, significant amounts of water, electricity, and steam are consumed in the production process. Yet the continuous development of the coking industry shows that there is value in doing so. I would like to invite everyone to share their views on the existence and development of the coking industry, as well as the practical significance of its role. To get things started, I’ll offer my own opinion: the sulfur content in semi-coke and coke is much lower than that in raw coal, and the calorific value per unit mass of semi-coke and coke is much higher than that of raw coal
You are absolutely right! Especially the analysis earlier on! Coke is widely used in metallurgical industries such as steelmaking; therefore, it can continue to exist and develop over time. You’re referring to the issue of low utilization rate! I completely agree that coking is a huge waste compared to the increasingly scarce coal resources. Therefore, it is necessary to develop downstream products on the one hand, and to vigorously develop the coal gasification industry on the other hand, in order to improve the utilization rate of coal!
If metallurgical industries such as steelmaking did not require coke, and the PVC industry did not need semi-coke, then there would be no need for the coking industry at all
The skeletal role of coke in blast furnaces is irreplaceable; at least for now, there is no alternative
