Our company is a research and development service firm that relies on numerous methods for its daily chromatography analysis tasks; these methods are stored on servers, and it takes a long time each time to locate a particular method. Is there any effective data management approach that could optimize these processes?
There are many management software options available on the market that can be used or served as a reference for management purposes. If one relies solely on common Office software, I think it might be relatively simpler to make decisions regarding the choice of chromatography methods. 1. Classification by column type: Code – Stationary phase – Specifications – Analytical application (type of sample analyzed) – Sample analysis conditions; Excel + filtering options. 2. Classification by the industry to which the sample belongs: Industry – Sample – Column – Conditions. 3. Classification by the specific sample being analyzed: Sample – Column – Conditions. It seems there are many ways to manage this, but I think that if one has a good understanding of the characteristics of the columns, the first approach can still serve as a useful reference. I currently start by selecting the column based on the characteristics of the sample, and then check whether there are any existing methods that can serve as a reference for that column. If none exist, I proceed with experiments to determine the optimal conditions; the method might not be perfect in such cases, but I find it to work fairly well
