How should one choose the calorific value of coal for boilers, and what factors need to be considered? For example, the boiler in our company (10t/h) is designed to use coal with a calorific value of 4800 kcal; can we use coal with a calorific value of 5500 kcal instead?
Sure, it’s not a problem if the coal is of good quality; the only issue is when the coal is of very poor quality.
As long as the type of coal is the same, that’s fine!
Check the design coal type and the verification coal type; if it is close to the design efficiency, it is not recommended to change the coal. It’s not necessarily the case that coal with a higher calorific value is better (it depends on the furnace height and the heating surfaces); particle size and volatile matter also need to be taken into account. There are examples of CFB boilers with high calorific value, resulting in high temperatures at the top and bottom, which reduces their overall efficiency.
I agree with the opinion from the fourth floor; it should be done in accordance with the design. It’s not necessarily true that the coal with a higher calorific value is the best (this depends on factors such as the type of furnace, the height of the furnace chamber, and the arrangement of the heating surfaces). Various indicators such as calorific value, volatile matter content, and ash melting point need to be taken into consideration
