Dalian Chemical has done a decent job; are there any others?
The Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics in China is quite advanced, but it’s the foreign institutions that are more sophisticated – those in Finland, South Africa, Qatar, etc. –; we use such technologies less often, so the data available is incomplete.
Chia Tai Energy Materials (Dalian) Co., Ltd. is currently the best and only one of its kind.
Currently, the only facility in the world where MTO is operating successfully on a commercial scale is Shenhua Baotou. Even this facility cannot yet be considered fully successful, as further testing is needed to determine its performance over long periods of operation.
The 1,500 tons per year capacity of Sinopec’s Shanghai Research Institute, as well as the catalysts produced by Tsinghua FMTP and China National Chemical Industry Corporation

Reply 1# shidahg0403: I found it on a website; you can go and take a look for yourself. Chia Tai Energy Materials (Dalian) Co., Ltd. was established on December 21, 2005. It is a world-class manufacturer of fine chemical products, built with exclusive investment from the Chia Tai Group, with the first phase of the facility coming online in November 2008. The company entered into a strategic partnership with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and successfully produced the catalysts required for industrial trials of DMTO (methanol-to-olefins). It obtained the exclusive rights to produce and sell these DMTO catalysts, and owns the world’s first production facility capable of manufacturing 2,000 tons of DMTO catalysts per year. The company has signed its first supply contract for DMTO catalysts with the Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins project, and it will also provide high-quality catalyst products for DMTO industrial plants both domestically and internationally. Backed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the company has established a technical team that combines independent innovation, research and development, pilot testing, and scale-up testing to carry out various forms of R&D activities aimed at improving product performance and meeting the needs of its customers, thereby ensuring that the products remain competitive in terms of both technology and cost.
