　　1. Classification of air compressors Air compressors are the core components of air supply systems; they are devices that convert the mechanical energy of a prime mover (usually an electric motor) into gas pressure energy, serving as the means for generating compressed air pressure. 　　There are many types of air compressors, which can be classified into positive-displacement compressors and dynamic compressors based on their working principle. The working principle of positive-displacement compressors is to compress the volume of gas, thereby increasing the density of gas molecules per unit volume and thus raising the pressure of the compressed air ； The working principle of a speed-type compressor is to increase the velocity of gas molecules, converting the kinetic energy possessed by these molecules into pressure energy of the gas, thereby raising the pressure of the compressed air. 　　2. Selection of air compressors The selection of air compressors is primarily based on the working pressure and flow rate of the pneumatic system. The operating pressure of the air source should be about 20% higher than the highest operating pressure in the pneumatic system, as account must be taken of the frictional and local losses in the air supply pipes. If the working pressure requirements in certain parts of the system are low, a pressure reducing valve can be used to supply air. The rated discharge pressure of air compressors is classified into low pressure (0.7–1.0 MPa), medium pressure (1.0–10 MPa), high pressure (10–100 MPa), and ultra-high pressure (above 100 MPa), allowing for selection based on actual requirements
