We check the turbine exhaust pressure during each hourly inspection. What is turbine exhaust pressure? What are the effects if it’s too high or too low?
You’re checking the vacuum level of the turbine, right? The turbine must maintain a certain level of vacuum in order to ensure a proper enthalpy drop and thus enable power generation. There are mechanisms in place for automatic shutdown in such situations. I haven’t worked with this kind of thing for a long time, so I’m a bit out of practice
If the exhaust pressure is too high, the gas that does work on the blades may contain liquid droplets, which can cause damage to those blades. I’m not sure what the hazards are when the pressure is too low; we usually keep it between -45 and -99, with an automatic shutdown triggered if it exceeds -30. Generally, it’s around -97. The turbine is from Siemens.

I guess the poster is referring to the steam pressure of a turbine. . . High steam pressure is, on the one hand, a waste, and on the other hand, it increases the impact on the impeller, reducing its lifespan. Low steam pressure and low impeller speed can cause the expander and other equipment to trip. . .
