Question: In the designation of polyethylene water supply pipes De90, does the 90 refer to the outer diameter or something else?

I would appreciate some guidance from those who know more: I’m new to the field of water supply and drainage. In the lists of materials used in this field, I see terms like De90 and De63 – I’m not sure what De actually stands for
De refers to the outer diameter of the PE pipe; the outer diameter of De90 is 90 mm. As for the inner diameter, it depends on the SDR value. If it is SDR17.6, then the calculation formula is as follows: 17.6 = outer diameter/wall thickness. Calculate it yourself to find out the exact amount.
The outer diameter of De90 is 90 mm; De63 and the like also refer to the outer diameter, corresponding to pipes with nominal diameters of DN80 and DN60 respectively
