The following is information specific to Shanghai; other provinces and cities can refer to it as well. I. Classification of examination levels and their scope of application: The English proficiency test for professional and technical personnel in Shanghai is divided into comprehensive categories (levels A, B, and C) and health-related categories (levels A, B, and C). The examination standards are set in accordance with the required English proficiency levels for the National Professional Title Foreign Language Test, and the test questions primarily assess the candidates’ ability to read and understand basic literature in the field of English. The specific exam grade classifications and applicable scopes are shown in the table below: Exam Grade A – Applicable candidates: ① Those who are advancing to senior professional and technical positions in the fields of higher education, research, healthcare, and engineering, or those advancing to top-level professional and technical positions in other fields ; ②Those who are promoted to Senior International Business Specialist. Exam Grade B ① Personnel in the health and engineering fields who work in units at the county level or below and are seeking promotion to senior professional and technical positions ; ②Those who have been promoted to intermediate professional and technical positions in the fields of higher education, scientific research, engineering, and health ; ③Those who are promoted to a senior professional and technical position in series where no distinction is made between principal and deputy positions (with the exception of the engineering series), or those who are promoted to a deputy senior professional and technical position in other series. Grade C: Personnel working in health and engineering-related positions in units at the county level or below, who are being promoted to intermediate professional and technical positions, or those from other fields who are being promoted to such intermediate professional and technical positions. (Professional and technical personnel in the health field should apply under the health category, while those in other fields should choose the general category; in case of any doubts, they should consult the personnel department of their organization or the relevant evaluation authority.) ) II. Examination Time: September 26, 2009, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. III. Validity Period of the Certificate: Those who pass the exam will be issued a \"Certificate of Passing the English Proficiency Test for Professional and Technical Personnel in Shanghai\" by the Shanghai Vocational Ability Examination Authority. This certificate is valid within the city of Shanghai. Among them, the validity period of a Class A certificate is 4 years, while that of Class B and Class C certificates is 3 years; in all cases, the validity period starts from the date of the examination.
For intermediate professional titles in science and engineering, apply for level B; for junior titles, apply for level C.
I just don’t know if that level is simple; they say that level B can cover level C
You can take the B level exam directly and skip the C level exam.
