The washing tower in our plant consists of 10 sieve plates at the top and five cross-flow plates at the bottom. I would like to ask why it is necessary to apply pressure when shutting down the system – what is the purpose of maintaining this pressure? What is the reason for that? When operating the tower crane, the pressure is around three kilograms.
When the tank is parked, the pressure inside it may be negative, to prevent atmospheric pressure from crushing the tank. Restarting the vehicle also requires pressurization if the pressure is low.
During parking, a negative pressure can occur inside the tower, which causes the external atmospheric pressure to exert force on the tower’s equipment, leading to deformation of the tower and similar issues. Therefore, stamping is required, that is, to balance the pressure; hence it is called pressure holding.

The tower operates at certain temperatures and pressures; when it is shut down, the temperature drops, and liquid condensation occurs, which leads to a decrease in pressure or even the formation of a negative pressure.
According to PV=NRT, with the tower volume remaining constant, if operation is stopped, T decreases and P also decreases accordingly.
