The choice between fixed-ball and floating-ball valves generally depends on the diameter and pressure rating. Under normal circumstances, valves with a diameter of over DN200 are usually fixed-ball valves; for 600LB valves, those with a diameter of DN100 or more are likely to be fixed-ball valves. You can consult the manufacturer for more details.

Reply to 7# king70868: I don’t have any experience using valves with silica powder; in my opinion, fixed ball valves should be used for large-diameter applications. Ball valves are generally not used in actual powder pipelines, as powder can easily get stuck inside the valve chamber of ball valves; gate valves or similar types are preferred if possible.

For these ball valves made of silicon powder, the quality of domestically produced ones is not very good; most of them are imported. After all, polysilicon manufacturers have plenty of money, so they don’t mind spending 20 yuan on each unit
When transporting silicon powder, due to its hardness and the intense erosion it causes, it is recommended to use knife gate valves. For some process stages, ordinary butterfly valves and ball valves can also be considered; the specific choice depends on the actual design requirements. Expansion butterfly valves can also be used, but their price is relatively high, so it’s better to avoid using them unless necessary.
