After calculating the thickness of the flanged joint according to HG20582-1998 \"Regulations for Strength Calculation of Steel Chemical Vessels\", is it still necessary to conduct calculations for reinforcement due to the openings in the head? If not, what is the basis for that?
In my opinion, reinforcement calculations for opening creation are necessary. The basis is GB150 or other design and calculation standards. Flange flange calculation and opening reinforcement calculation are two different concepts; they should not be confused with each other...
Reply to 1# jialing511: I agree with the view expressed on the second floor. If analytical design is not used, separate calculations should be carried out. GB150 also contains relevant provisions regarding the absence of reinforcement; in addition to chemical industry standards, there are also petroleum industry standards – checking those might be helpful.
So, when calculating the reinforcement for openings, should the area of the flange thread holes be deducted? And how should it be deducted?
Personally, I don’t think it’s necessary. The reason is simple: when calculating the flange, the stress conditions in that area are already taken into account, and this is what distinguishes a flange from a Flange Otherwise it would just be called a Flange; then why call it a flange? It’s purely my personal opinion!
What is an appropriate ratio between the thickness of the flanged fitting and that of the shell?
There are no strict regulations regarding the ratio; what’s important is that both the flange strength and the shell strength meet the specified standards.
