When installing the pump on site, thin shims are used to adjust the gap between the pump base and the pump body, thereby enabling alignment with the motor. Thin shims are usually made of steel or copper; can iron sheets be used instead? Where are the relevant requirements? I hope experienced colleagues can share their views
I think either copper or iron plates will work; it’s just that there aren’t very thin iron sheets, and another reason is that iron tends to rust.
Copper sheet is generally used, as it is relatively easy to make very thin.
It’s best not to use metal sheets, as they will rust over time.
It seems there is a standard for gaskets; I wonder if anyone can send one.
Sometimes thick sheets are needed; we use 0.5mm galvanized sheet metal, which works very well

The purpose of alignment is to ensure that the two rotating shafts move along the same line, thereby reducing vibration and other issues in the mechanical equipment. Metal sheets tend to rust, and over time, this rusting will clearly change the original dimensions of the sheet, resulting in alignment errors that affect the performance parameters of the pump.
