There is a reactor tank that, at the same ambient temperature, shows a reading 1–2°C lower than that of other thermometers. The temperature control range required for the reaction is ±1°C; therefore, I believe there is something wrong with this thermometer, but the instrumentation technicians claim it’s just normal variation. This thermometer is a remote temperature transmitter, displayed on the DCS. May I ask what is the typical allowable error for thermometers used in chemical production?
This can be determined by checking the measurement range and accuracy class of the thermometer.

What kind of impact, if any, would this 1–2 degree change have on the manufacturing process? Whether it’s grade A or grade B, as long as it’s below 100 degrees, the increase will not exceed 1 degree.

However, the instrumentation staff claim it represents normal error. This indicates that the accuracy of this instrument does not meet the precision requirements of the process, but for existing instruments, it is considered acceptable. The process requires a temperature control range of n±1°C, and the error margin of the existing instruments already reaches this value; so how can control be achieved? The selection needs to be done again!
