One of our company’s slag removers originally used a motor with a power of 1/4 HP and a speed of 950 RPM; the gearbox had a transmission ratio of i=288. The equipment was originally imported, but after the motor broke down, we replaced it with a domestic motor. Domestic motors start at 1 HP, which is 4 times more powerful than the original motor. Now, the no-load current and operating current of the new motor are almost identical, so when the equipment gets clogged during operation, the motor protection system doesn’t function properly, resulting in frequent shaft breaks. Is there any good solution? We can’t find a motor with even lower power.
Can HP not be converted to KW before purchasing? Moreover, there are many domestic 1/4HP motors, and companies like ABB from abroad also produce them in China.
