Hello everyone! Our company has an online instrument that uses ultraviolet spectrophotometry to measure COD. However, the color of the medium being measured by us (water) changes frequently, which affects the accuracy of the measurements. Are there any instruments that can eliminate such effects?
Strictly speaking, detecting COD using ultraviolet absorption has nothing to do with color; however, if a colored substance exhibits ultraviolet absorption, then it certainly has an impact. If it is environmental data, it is recommended to use chemical methods for COD testing; if it is only used as reference data for water treatment, the testing system can be recalibrated.
You can use the method of measuring TOC; there are fewer external factors that can have an impact. Then it can be converted into COD using a certain formula.
