Where to start when drawing pipeline process diagrams?

I have just started learning CAD. I would like to ask the experts: where should I start when drawing a pipeline process flow diagram?
It is best to learn P&ID diagrams with someone guiding you, as definitions vary from company to company. Although there are some common standards, there are still significant differences in the way certain codes are represented. You can start by trying out AUTOCAD 3D PLANT 2011. There is a simplified Chinese version of this, which includes detailed instruction documents as well as pre-defined piping symbols. By searching online for diagrams created by others and trying to draw them a few times, one will become familiar with it.
