Question: What kind of work do electrical engineers do in petroleum design institutes?

I’m about to graduate. I looked for a job a couple of days ago and applied to an oil design institute; they have now offered me a position. I majored in electrical engineering, so I’m not sure what kind of work I’ll be doing at that design institute Is it possible to have a promising career in a field that is not the core business of an oil design institute?
