The free chlorine level in the brackish water returned from our company’s ion exchange membranes is always 0, but free chlorine is often detected in the pre-treatment stage. What is the reason? Due to its high alkalinity, the brackish water exiting the tank may cause deviations when testing for free chlorine. Once it enters the preprocessor, acid may be added to facilitate the release of free chlorine, so that free chlorine can be detected during subsequent measurements. Additionally, when chlorate is acidified, it also reacts with chloride ions to produce free chlorine.
