When simulating the process, for the input logistics, flow rates are provided, which are time-related. I would like to establish a process in which coal reacts with a catalyst. The coal is fed into the system on a mass flow basis, measured in kg/hr, while the catalyst is added in fixed amounts per batch (in kg) and reused. The reaction time is unknown; could someone please advise me on how this should be set up? Do I see that the units for logistics are all time-related?

It’s actually just a matter of adding the catalyst; no separate logistics are needed. How can the catalyst be added during the circulation process?
Catalysts do not participate in chemical reactions; can simple calculations still be carried out without specifying a catalyst?
Reply to 5# zhjfhf2005: The catalyst is involved in the reaction and is recycled through another reactor; therefore, it only needs to be added once. On the other hand, coal needs to be added continuously
Why must a catalyst be added? It doesn’t participate in the reaction anyway

The catalyst does not participate in the reaction; if one were to consider it as participating, it is only through the effect of impurities in the raw materials on the catalyst’s performance. Both the loading and regeneration of the catalyst can be considered as batch operations; I believe this simplifies the processing and should have no impact on the simulation results.
