Life cannot be free of pain, just as there is no sea without wind, no sky without rain, no mountains without cliffs, and no painting without colors. Hardships are the inevitable path to attaining truth. Adversity is a kind friend, while hardship is a great teacher. Pain is the purgatory of life; by experiencing it in a rational and resilient manner, pain can bring you profound and valuable insights. Pain (in any form) is a powerful concentration of energy that can stimulate and motivate us, something that is impossible when we are in high spirits. As we go through hardships, we gradually become wiser. “To become a more thoughtful, more meaningful person,” Oscar Wilde once wrote, “is the privilege of those who have gone through hardships. ” Without darkness, there is no light; without cold, there is no warmth; without pain, there is no happiness. Let us treat pain kindly—for the sake of our lives.
