At our facility, severe burring occurs on the cylinder and end caps during equipment manufacturing – how can this be controlled? Otherwise, the device will look too ugly!
As long as it does not affect the welding and strength requirements, there’s no need to be too concerned about the appearance. If your company places a strong emphasis on overall quality, for stainless steel equipment, perform surfacing welding at the edges to create a smooth transition. For carbon steel equipment, after it has been manufactured and subjected to shot blasting, put putty on the edges where there is misalignment to create a smooth transition, and then apply paint. If the above still does not meet the company’s quality requirements, then one component should be discarded based on its economic value, and another component should be purchased or manufactured according to the dimensions of the remaining component… Generally, following standard manufacturing procedures, the end cap is fabricated after the cylinder is ready, based on the diameter of that cylinder… These are just my personal opinions for reference only!
Today’s users place great emphasis on the appearance quality. Our company has encountered this issue on many occasions as well. Although it doesn’t violate any standards, the results aren’t very good – it’s like having a cap placed on the cylinder. In my opinion, as long as the thickness of the head allows it, appropriately trimming the straight edges of the head before welding will result in a better appearance.
