Gas contains approximately 25% water vapor, as well as 3500–5000 ppm of H2S. I now want to calculate the dew point temperature of this gas; I’m not sure whether the presence of H2S will have an impact on the dew point temperature If there is an impact, how should it be calculated? Thank you!
25% is the volume fraction; to determine the pressure P of the gas, one needs to calculate the partial pressure of water vapor as P * 0.25. Then, by referring to a water vapor table, the corresponding dew point can be found.
Personally, I think it has an impact, because our factory’s SHEEL unit adjusts the dew point of the circulating gas by adding air to the inert circulating gas; therefore, the composition of the gas certainly affects its dew point. . For the specific calculations, you can look them up in the principles of chemical engineering
I have experience in calculating the acid dew point in flue gases; when gases contain SO2 and SO3, they combine with water vapor under certain conditions to form sulfuric acid vapor. When this sulfuric acid vapor is present, the dew point of the flue gases is referred to as the acid dew point, which is much higher than the dew point resulting from pure water vapor in the absence of S. So, the question now is: with SO2 and SO3 replaced by H2S, and in the presence of a large amount of water vapor, are there similar reactions of this kind, and is an acid dew point present? And the dew point temperature of this acid is much higher than the dew point of water vapor at the current partial pressure?
