It is known that there are methods for determining the dripping point of greases over a wide temperature range, namely the Method for Determining the Dripping Point of Greases (GB/T 3498-83) and the Method for Determining the Dripping Point of Greases (GB/T 4929-85). Based on what is it determined which method to use for measurement? Is there a large difference between the results obtained by the two methods? If measuring the drip point of grease of an unknown type, what method should be used to determine it? Thank you.
There are three methods for determining the drip point: the method for determining the drip point of greases and solid hydrocarbons (SH/T 0115-92), the method for determining the drip point of greases (GB/T 4929-85), and the method for determining the drip point of greases over a wide temperature range (GB/T 3498-83). The first two methods can only determine the drip point below 250°C, whereas the latter can determine the drip point of various types of greases up to 330°C.
The grease drip point determination method (GB/T 4929-85) uses an oil bath; it is generally used to determine the drip points of greases at temperatures below 220°C. The method for determining the drip point over a wide temperature range for greases (GB/T 3498-83) employs an aluminum furnace for heating, and it can be used to determine the drip points of greases at temperatures up to 220°C.
