What should be done if there is a sudden abnormal noise from the blower in a heating furnace? What about the exhaust fan?
Report to the supervisor immediately, contact the upstream and downstream sections, and initiate an emergency shutdown.
Shut down immediately, then report it for further handling; it’s likely either an object has gotten inside or there is a problem with the bearing
If you can contact the supervisor, ask if there is a backup unit that can be used to activate it first, and then inform the relevant departments to confirm the issue. If there is no backup unit, request permission from the supervisor to carry out an emergency shutdown!
If there is a spare, of course it will be replaced with that; if not, inform the central control room or main operator immediately to carry out a planned emergency shutdown.
What if the blower stops operating momentarily? Can the fuel gas to the furnace be turned off completely immediately? Thank you
Without air, there is no combustion, and no heat. I don’t know what happens downstream; generally, the operation has to be stopped due to a drop in temperature. As the fuel gas continues to flow in, there is generally no problem, as it goes directly to the flare and the system temperature drops. It won’t explode, but if there is ventilation at the scene after combustion, caution is needed. Venting at low temperatures may cause poisoning, or an explosion if the venting temperature is high.
