The drawing of intersection lines is described in the initial chapters of mechanical drafting.
Simple method: Use CAD or CAXA drawing software to create, on the computer, cylinders that are perpendicular to each other based on the dimensions of the actual cylinder; mark the arc lengths at the two intersection points. Using these values, measure them directly on the actual cylinder with a tape measure.
Reply to 3# fzf119: CAD isn’t necessary either; you can simply use a pen to trace along the wall of the pipe when connecting it vertically.
Hehe, the workers in my factory just used oxygen cutting to cut it open
Reply to 4# penryn: Following your method, this can be done when the pipe diameter is small; It’s difficult when the mass is large.
Reply to 6# fzf119: Move the position where the hole is to be made to the very top on the turning table, and then use a crane to lift the large pipe
The general procedure is as follows: use a compass or scribe to mark lines on the cylinder based on the outer diameter of the pipe (referring to the larger one here); or first mark positioning lines on both sides of the diameter. Lift the pipe using a crane and position it between those positioning lines, then use a carbon pencil to draw along the pipe’s outline. Next, use a cutting torch to make a cut along those lines. After that, test the hole with the pipe – if it doesn’t fit, make minor adjustments, and finally create bevels~
