Can stainless steel pipes be heated using gas welding?

During installation, since there were two missing reducers at the pipes, several triangular notches were cut directly at the pipe ends; these notches were then heated using gas welding to create a reducer, after which the areas with triangular notches were welded together. The material of the pipeline is 316L stainless steel. Is this appropriate? Will heating have an impact on the material?
It’s definitely not appropriate; it has little impact on the material.
