A device with a design pressure of 33 MPa and a volume of 20 L was classified as belonging to an external category under the old regulations on pressure vessels; it was manufactured by a company with A2 certification. After the implementation of the new regulations on pressure vessels, this device was classified as belonging to Category 1. Does that company still have the qualifications to design and manufacture such devices?
For containers classified as Category 1, their design must be carried out by entities with the appropriate design qualifications, with a special seal for pressure vessel design being used; furthermore, they must be manufactured by entities that have the qualifications to produce Category 1 pressure vessels.
Manufacturers with D2 or A2 design and manufacturing qualifications naturally also possess D1 qualifications. However, while D2 and A2 are classified as categories 2 and 3 for medium and low pressure applications, this equipment is categorized as category 1 but operates at high pressure. Is it appropriate to have manufacturers with D2 or A2 qualifications design and manufacture it?
