How to handle the intermediate joint

Regarding DIIBT4, in Zone 2 areas, what should be done when there are joints in the cables? Do the joints need to be welded, or should they be placed inside explosion-proof boxes?
This post was last edited by dxj0422331 on 2010-12-23 at 15:04. The principle is that it’s not possible to do so, so it has never been attempted; I’ve only seen cables being locked with large copper sleeves under hydraulic pressure at zero temperature.
Connection should be made through explosion-proof junction boxes or distribution boxes; terminal strip connections, crimping, or welding can all be used, but the key is to ensure a secure connection
Another key point is that there must be no electric leakage
If a junction box is used, do isolation boxes need to be installed on both sides of the junction box?
