Is there any fellow sailor here who has extensive experience with filtration and could share their insights? When activated carbon is added to a product for decolorization, it can easily clog the filter fabric, and a small amount of activated carbon may pass through the fabric and remain in the product, affecting its color. Could everyone recommend what kind of filtration equipment or medium would be better to use? ! !

In the production of fine chemicals, activated carbon is often used for decolorization. When using it, we add the activated carbon, stir for a while, and then let it settle for a period of time; the activated carbon settles at the bottom while the clear liquid on top is separated and processed separately. The clear liquid above also needs to be filtered using a plate and frame filter press ; As long as the right type of filter cloth is selected, no activated carbon will pass through it.

We don’t want to spend too much effort on choosing the filter fabric, so please share some familiar filter fabric models, such as those used by your company for activated carbon treatment! Thank you! :) Additionally, we need to pursue efficiency in our production process; if the settling time exceeds 0.5 hours, it becomes unsuitable. Since our products are organic oils, it takes a longer time for sedimentation to occur. We considered using a sedimentation step as well, but that idea was rejected.

If high performance is required, a filtration method using sintered metal powder filters can be considered. If the requirements are not very high, a filter element-based filtration method is generally used, with the filter elements taking the form of filter cloth; the specific specification of the filter cloth to be used depends on the actual medium and requirements of your application.
