Equipment condition maintenance is a trend in equipment management. Could everyone here share their approaches to equipment management, as well as the instruments and devices they use for collecting data on equipment conditions? Thank you.
As the scale of enterprises grows, the size of their equipment also increases proportionally, and the management approaches and concepts related to such equipment are gradually evolving. It is understood by everyone that the traditional management approach of assigning people to monitor individuals or machines is no longer suitable for equipment management, and equipment management software has gradually gained acceptance. However, the effectiveness and timeliness of data collection are indeed the key factors that determine the efficiency of equipment management software. Among them, equipment maintenance data and equipment operation status data represent the most challenging aspects of data entry. Currently, the maintenance data for many grassroots repair teams is entered on paper; the handwriting is often messy, making it impossible to scan using scanning devices, so manual entry is required, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Device operation status data is mainly collected in two ways: manual entry or automatic acquisition by DCS/PLC systems. However, the data from ordinary rotating equipment that is fed into DCS/PLC systems are usually only start/stop signals or operating current signals, which are insufficient to meet the needs of device management. Typically, our professional maintenance technicians use specialized tools such as infrared thermometers and vibration detectors for routine inspections, with the data being entered manually. I’d also like to hear from other sailors about better methods and suggestions.
