According to clause 3.0.7 of the \"SH 3009-2001 Design Code for Fuel Gas Systems and Flammable Gas Emission Systems in Petrochemical Enterprises\", the design of fuel gas pipeline networks must meet the following requirements: 1. The fuel gas pipelines should be arranged in a branching pattern. In my opinion, while such an arrangement can ensure that the pressure of fuel gas in each branch remains balanced, it also presents a serious problem – if there is an issue with one of the branches, that branch will no longer have access to fuel gas, which will affect the associated equipment and may even lead to shutdowns. Why not design the pipelines in a circular or network pattern instead? Fuel gas from any direction can ensure the normal operation of the device. The interpretation of this provision is not mentioned either in the explanatory notes to this standard; I hope everyone will discuss it.
I believe that the fuel gas pipeline network is different from the fire protection water pipeline network; generally, fire hydrants are located close to the main pipes, while fuel gas users are situated further away from these main pipes (which are installed on pipe racks), which makes a circular layout impractical and offers no advantages. If arranged in a network pattern, control becomes more complex, and more isolation valves are required to ensure that each user can use gas properly (otherwise, any issue will have a greater impact).
