There is acid inside the distillation tower

What distillation tower, what acid gas? What are the current operational conditions? It’s necessary to provide clear details before a response can be given.
Reply to 2# yy1007: The temperature and pressure at the bottom of the tower have both decreased, and the steam flow rate to the reboiler has also dropped. However, I’m not sure whether these changes in the tower’s performance are directly related to the presence of acid; therefore, I dare not make any hasty judgments. I hope those who know more can provide some guidance.
We have now stopped the tower operation and are replacing the materials to restart it. The acid inside the tower has caused whatever had accumulated on its walls to fall down and accumulate at the bottom of the tower, resulting in blockages in the reboiler. Thank you all for your help
Then you need to resolve it quickly; acidity can also cause corrosion of the reboiler, which in turn may lead to leaks. That’s exactly why our company replaced all its reboilers with stainless steel ones.
